Orient Express
This sunday july 19th Al Jawala play at the final party of the Orient Express Festival at Stuttgart harbour. This project is a European theatre-journey under the patronage of the European Theatre Convention, a network of over 30 theatres from 20 different countries. A theatre-train with a railway wagon wich is converted into a rolling stage, is travelling across Europe from may to july 2009.
Starting in Ankara the train stopped for shows in Istanbul, Bukarest, Craiova and Temeswar (Rumänien), Novi Sad (Serbia), Zagreb (Croatia), Ljubljana and Nova Gorica (Slowenia) as well as Freiburg (Germany). In summer 2009 the train reached it´s temporary destination:Stuttgart.

Our first studio-work! We are very glad to finally present you the album that we worked on so intensly for the last months. A lot of stories and experiences from all the years of travelling with Al Jawala went into these pieces. We recollected as far back into our history as we moved foreward and discovered new stuff. For us this is the most complete and widespread Al Jawala album so far.
The first 300 copies we will send out to you as a handsigned special-edition, here in our shop.

Back in Romania!
After taking a short holiday break we will start again tomorrow heading for Bukarest. We will perform Wednesday evening in the B52 Club, Str. Popa Tatu 4. Friday we move to Timisoara to play open air on the central place of the cathedral (Festival of the german funkforum).
Saturday you can see us at the Bluesfestival in Jimwolia and Sunday again we will be there for the international Bike race in the afternoon. We´ll be happy seeing you guys around on one of these occasions!

Creole Award for Worldmusic from Germany
Dear friends!
We are leaving this weekend with no sleep and lots of travel kilometers. Good news! In Dortmund we got the Award for Worldmusic from Germany. The other winning Bands are Ahoar from Bonn and Ulman from Leipzig. We are most happy, because besides the price from the jury we got given the Audience-Award of the festival. Thank you very much for that! We also would like to thank everyone who was involved, for the perfect organisation, the friendly care and most of all for catching up with so many nice people.

Äl Jawala is nominated for the Creole-Award for Worldmusic in Baden Württemberg.
The Contest takes place from 21.-24. February at Theaterhaus Stuttgart.
Äl Jawala play on Friday the 23.02. as the last band of the evening.
The concerts begin at 19:30h. Every Band plays for 20 min.
So please don´t expect a full Äl Jawala Concert that evening ...but of course we would be happy to have your wonderful support!
On the 4 days of the festival you can see a lot of very interresting Bands : z.B. Ensemble Fiz Füz from Freiburg, Hiss, Anne Wylie Band and a lot more.
